Sustainable, Natural, Organic, Native Yeast, Minimal Intervention, Micro-production, Vegan - Woman Winemaker.

Black fruits like plums and blueberries joined by orange peel notes given by the Petit Manseng blend. This is a deliciously fresh, dry, medium-bodied red wine with black fruit and spice aromas.

Originally from Spain, the Carrau family has been making wine for 10 generations and moved to Uruguay in 1930. Scientists, nature lovers, and pioneers, they saw winemaking promise in the unique soils and microclimate in Rivera, Uruguay, and established one of the only wineries in this very remote region. The Cerro Chapeu region is located in one of the purest environments according to the environmental sustainability indexes (ESI) of the Columbia and Yale universities.

The Carrau family has always been at the forefront of innovation in winemaking, introducing Tannat to Uruguay and in 1997 Dr. Francisco Carrau, the 9th generation, designed and led the construction of one of the first gravity fed wineries in South America inside a flat-top hill in the estate, at 1,000 feet above sea level.

The Castel Pujol ‘Folklore’ line is the vision of 10th generation daughter Pia Carrau, who is bringing minimal intervention practices to their sustainable, low-energy, gravity-flow winery.
