Marina Danieli's winery sits on a hilltop in Buttrio, Udine, surrounded by vineyards, woods, and vegetable gardens. They family has operated the winery for 5 generations since 1870 when Filotimo Danieli and his wife Anna Beltrame arrived in Fruili. Traditionally, the men in the family have giants of Italy's steel industry and it has been the women who have nurtured the vineyards and built the families name in wine. As the third generation of woman, her daughter (Letizia) is the fourth, to oversee and run the lands, Marina has brought the Estate to a much grander position than she found it. She cultivates indigenous grapes on the hills and flatlands of Buttrio that were carved out by the glaciers. The land is rich in minerals for farming. Friuli Colli Orientali ("eastern hills of Friuli"), where the winery lies, is one of the most significant DOC in Friuli - Venezia Giulia and home to some its most prestigious vineyards. Both herself and her daughter continue the family tradition of strict sustainable viticulture practices, growing a broad spread of grapes and intercropping to preserve the soils as well as the viticultural history of the region
Marina has worked long and hard in honor of her family’s name. Borrowing an old symbol of the family - ‘il mus’, the donkey - as a symbol for the winery. For Marina it stands for stubbornness, strength, and resilience, also is a reminder of her grandfather and his witty sense of humor.
Softly herbal and linear, white spring blossoms, green almond, underripe pear and Granny Smith apple with a hint of lemon pith The mineral and slightly flinty notes combined with zesty acidity gives it a vibrant finish.
