“Les Equilibristes” (the “Tightrope Walkers”) aim to shake up winemakers willing to craft different wines. By freeing them from their habits and practices, they intend to shape together a vibrant and unique wine. Their set of golden rules are the following: indigenous grape varieties, organic winemaking, tillage, indigenous yeasts, minimal sulphur rates. So far the project spans: 10 vintages, 7 winemakers, 18 grape varieties, and 5 regions (Anjou, Périgord, Languedoc, Corbières, Banyuls).

The 2 Equilibristes are: François de Monval a wine merchant, cellar and restaurant owner in Paris (La Canonnière), and wine enthusiast informed every day by his clients and Florent Girou a “travelling oenologist”, winemaker in the Perigord Region, and wine-maniac, torn between the preservation of the ancient know how and the constant calling into question of some practices.

Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot blended to a delightful, juicy, slightly chewy wine!  Drinks like a fresher Bordeaux: Red raspberry and roasted cherries, cola spice, with a touch of traditional green pepper from Cabernet Franc and something foresty on the finish. While there is nice rich fruit on this wine, it stays light on the palate.
