Winemaker Leo Hansen was born and raised in Denmark then moved to California. He made his first vintage of Chenin in 2006 and never looked back. Fittingly, Steen is also his family’s middle name and it is the South African word for Chenin Blanc.

This wine comes from a vineyard located in the Southern-eastern hills of Ukiah. Planted in the mid-1970s on a gentle slope in Pinole gravelly loam soils, the sites old Chenin Blanc vines yield tiny, beautifully concentrated berries - thus the name Peaberry.

This wine displays lovely aromas of dried quince, green apple, and honeysuckle with subtle notes of mint and lemon peel. Fruit is similar on the pallet with some savory elements of almond skin and sea salt. A hint of creaminess balances the zippy acidity.
