From one of the oldest vineyards in the world, and the first in the world to be officially classified, comes Lenkey Pincészet. A small winery run by the incredibly ambitious Géza Lenkey who is trying to bring the unique terroir and indigenous grapes of his home region, Tokaj, to fame. While Tokaj Aszu is a famously sweet dessert wine, new producers like Géza are trying to return the local varieties like Furmint and Harslevelu to their historic fame as complex DRY white wines.
Géza farms 15 parcels spread over 10 hectare in the subregions of Mad and Bodrogkeresztur. The vines have been organically farmed since 2005 and were some of the first in Hungary to be certified in 2015.
FLOW is a novel wine from Lenkey's collection - an un-oaked, relatively young blend of native Furmint grapes and a tiny amount of Harslevelu from several of Lenkey's strictly controlled volcanic vineyards in Mád, Tokaj. It's a light and herbaceous wine with slightly waxy aromas and the flavor of Granny Smith apples, lemon pith, chamomile and green melon.
