Humberto Toscano was born and raised in the small town of San Antonio de las Miñas in an adobe ranch that dates back to the 1800s. After spending some time in the United States, Humberto decided to return to the ranch and the centenarian vines planted on the estate wishing for a calmer lifestyle. He spent time recuperating the family’s three hectares of vines that have never once seen chemicals.

Palomino Fino, a grape most famously used for sherry production, came over to the New World with Spanish colonists.  La Casa Vieja's plantings are 120+ years old and ungrafted, with some young vine re-plantings in the works. The vineyard goes up a gentle slope on the back of the estate. Harvest usually starts in mid September. It’s destemmed by hand, massaging bunches over a kind of wooden “zaranda". The grapes are foot crushed and transferred to concrete egg for a two week maceration and fermentation, the wine transfers to stainless to finish. Everything is done by hand with nothing added

A tannic and spicy amber wine with lots of baking spice, autumn vegetable notes and deep tea-like tannin.
