Joan d'Anguera is the property of brothers Joan and Josep Anguera, seventh-generation farmers in Darmos, which is located in the southern part of the Montsant D.O. The estate conisists of 30 hectares which are divided into a number of single vineyards at an altitude of 200-300 meters on a mix of clay and calcareous soils. The brothers work as naturally as possible in the vineyards and the cellar. They respect tradition and follow the natrual rythyms of the ecosystem. To that end, they are certified organic and biodynamic, which allows their wines to express the personality of their unique terroir. All wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and bottled unfiltered. 

Planella is made from 90% Carinyena and 10% Syrah from vines planted in 1983. All fruit is hand-harvested and fermented whole-cluster, then aged for one year in used barrels. Fresh fruit dominates the nose highlighted with an herbal earthy element. On the palate, the terroir of the d'Anguera brothers really shines through, with loads of minerality and brambly fruit intermingling with spice and earth. Complex and refreshing, enjoy with a wide range of foods, but it is especially delicious paired with roast pork.
