Tequila Extra Anejo (extra or ultra aged) is a new classification added in the summer of 2006, labeling any Tequila aged more than 3 years, an "Ultra Aged". Hailing from the exceptional La Cofradia distillery, a blend of tequilas aged between three and five years, packaged in a traditional, hand-painted talavera bottle that is a gift unto itself. Ultra rich, but not overpowered by oak, this is a real gem for tequila connoisseurs. Extremely silky, with a definite cognac presence and a nice chocolate/caramel smoothness that gives only the slightest burst of agave. Exceptionally dark and rich even for an XA. Exceptional!
