From one of the leading producers of Mencia bringing fame to Bierzo region of northwest Spain. Petalos comes from 60 year-old vines and is farmed biodynamically,.  This is wine with intense aromatics, espresso, dark cherry, wild plum, smoke, and spice. Fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity keep the wine in balance.

DdJP was founded in 1998, and is a collaboration between Alvaro Palacios of Priorat fame, and his nephew Ricardo Perez Palacios. The venture is credited with bringing the region to much greater prominence. During the late 1980's, Alvaro Palacios travelled his native Spain selling French barriques to winemakers. But his journeys had a more true purpose: to find the best place to make Spain's greatest wine. He decided on Priorato, where he would achieve worldwide fame ....But there had been a close contender: Bierzo. It had all the ingredients that Alvaro wanted - incredibly steep hillside vineyards, distinctive terroirs and, most importantly, ancient vineyards of Mencia - a unique red grape believed brought by French pilgrims during the Middle Ages.
