BLANKbottle winemaker Pieter H Walser has a ‘punk’ approach to winemaking, ripping up every rulebook there is going, while he has a small amount of  vineyards, he produces 30 different wines a year, with half never to see the light of day again.  HIs focus is on creating wines from the best grapes in his vineyards on any given year, either as single varietal cuvees or blends he balances according to each harvest (He once hooked himself up to an EKG and let his subconscious do the picking).  He farms intentionally with care for the land.

IBoberg means “on top of the mountain” and the mountain is pictured on the label – but not on its own.  It is depicted as being overlooked by seven generations of Pieter’s family who lived on the farm next to it.  These Chenin Blanc vines are old and low yielding, and have recently been certified organic.  For 2018 they were picked early and fermented in old French oak barrels with natural yeast. 

The BOBERG is fresh but with real depth. Crisp Granny Smith apple, Bosc pear some golden fruit notes and Meyer lemon.  Slightly round body but with lots of zippy acidity.
